Why Cheap MLM Leads Can Ruin Your Business
When you think of all the ways you have tried to promote your mlm or network marketing business, which one pains you the most? If you have ever tried buying cheap mlm leads, you may agree with me that it is one of the less smart things you have done online. Most of us who have been around mlm type businesses for a while will cringe at the thought. If you are not an mlm veteran and you are looking to get your business in front of prospects, then you will want to read every word of this article, right now!
Internet marketing is now a multi-billion dollar business that has evolved over the years. One thing remains true however, is that you must consistently place your business opportunity or MLM in front of a growing list of leads or prospects. Prospects are your potential buyers or downline. But just how to get the attention of your prospects is the real question. Should you buy cheap mlm leads from people online? My answer is a resounding “NO”. Here’s why.
1. Cheap MLM leads are never a good value for money. The sad truth is, if you are able to buy leads cheaply, as in under $1.00, then it means the person who is selling that name and email address is also selling it to others. So, assuming that the lead in this case is you, can you imagine having four to six persons contacting you and trying to sell you their network business? I shudder at the thought. I know that there are companies selling leads and seem to do well, but there are some tight restrictions to making these work, and you must be aware of them before you begin.
2. Mlm leads are usually poorly targeted. These leads represent people who at one point or another, expressed interest in an online business. You will have no way of knowing what kind of business the person was interested in. Even if that information was collected on an opt in form, it may have been changed, or is no longer relevant. I’ve expressed interest in doing certain online businesses that I do not remember now, and worst, I currently have no interest in those businesses. If my name is on your old list, I can guarantee that I am a lousy prospect.
3. The worst thing about these leads is the “I don’t know you” factor. Sure, this prospect may have signed a form sometime ago, claiming interest in a network marketing business. But how does he or she connect you to that form? Was it your form, with your picture on it? Chances are you have to answer “no” to that question. So there is a personal gap between you and the prospect that no amount of shennanigan can overcome. This is actually a credibility gap which will leave the prospect thinking that you are a spammer. If you are trying to build a solid online business, you will never want to have it ruined by claims of spamming. Buying cheap mlm leads can ruin your credibility online.
The smartest way to build your mlm online is to find your own prospects who want to participate in your business with you! When your prospect gets your first follow-up email, he should not be scratching his head wondering, “how did I get this email?” or “who is this guy?”. Instead, he or she should now have a vivid image of at least three distinct things about about you and your business. Your prospect should know your website name (branding), remember your picture or your voice (multi-media), and should have no doubt whatsoever, that he has a strong interest in your business (relevance). This approach will place you rungs above the other newbies who insist on buying cheap mlm leads.
