The most important thing to know about making money or driving web traffic to a website using YouTube in your Internet marketing strategy is that your videos have to be seen by a lot of people.  The most important thing to know about getting your videos in front of a wide audience is that people have to share them with each other.  In this article, we’ll go over a few methods that can make your video more likely to be shared.

Going Viral

The biggest videos are known as viral videos due to the way in which they spread.  These are the videos that you will see spread across the social networks of the Internet, and the videos that are often the most talked about.  Unfortunately, there’s no real way to predict whether or not a video will go viral.

However, there are a few elements that you can work with when trying to engineer a viral video.  Often, cute animals doing cute things, especially if they are very rare things, go viral often.  So do kids doing similar things, or teenagers doing stupid things.  While we can’t tell you how to integrate your product or your blog to generate traffic along these lines, we can tell you that by embracing these things you may create a viral hit.

Focusing on Special Interest

Alternatively, and perhaps easier, you can create videos that are unique but also work with the interests that people have.  This type of video works best when you know how to make the content of your website interesting in a video format, and in a way that other people will want to look at.

While interesting videos may not go viral, they are likely to come up when people are searching for topics similar to your focus.  These videos are also likely to be clicked on when people are watching other videos, and it appears in the side pane.

Regardless of how you specifically pursue getting your target audience, you should watch the public reaction after each of your videos is posted.  Which one got linked in the most places?  Which one got the most comments, or the most likes?  Figure out what elements of each of these was responsible, and focus on that.

Go From Zero To 240,000 Visits Per Day…

Before you begin recording your beautiful face rambling about the business or website that you run and uploading it directly to YouTube, you need to have a plan.  That’s because YouTube is filled with millions upon millions of videos of people doing just that and not making any money.   Making money and generating traffic with YouTube as part of your Internet marketing strategy can be easy if you have a plan ready.

What is the Purpose of Your Videos?

So: how do you want to use YouTube?  There are a couple of different ways that it can be used to generate either advertising revenue or drive traffic to your website, and each of these video types need to include something different.

Making Money Through Advertisements

If your goal is to make advertising revenue straight from YouTube, then your process will be much more difficult – but we’ll go over that in great detail.  What you will be aiming for is to make as many enormously popular and viral videos as possible.  That’s because the only way to actually make money from the advertising on YouTube is by first creating a video that attains thousands of views, and then by signing a contract with Google themselves.  We’ll go over this process later.

Making Money Through Driving Traffic

If your goal with making money with YouTube is to generate traffic to an external website, like your blog, then you need to focus on creating compelling videos about either your product or the content of your blog.  This can be pretty tricky, too, but it certainly isn’t impossible.

The takeaway point when working in this vein is that you need to focus on talking about your products or your blog in a fun and compelling way, so hopefully you’re great at doin just that.

You should note before you begin that generating a significant stream of revenue, either through web traffic or advertisements on YouTube, that this is not an overnight process.  Similar to building a large traffic base on a new blog, this process involves creating content that people like, and making sure that they see it.  In the coming articles, we’ll go over how to create compelling content that people love to watch.
