Affiliate Marketing In You Internet Home Business: Part I
In our last article about affiliate marketing, we introduced you to the basics of the concept: how it works and how the pay cycle functions. In this article, we will go over how the payment schemes are specifically set up, and explain a couple of different ways in which affiliate marketing can benefit you.
So How Do I Get Paid?
There are three different setups that all affiliate marketing programs use to determine how much money you will get paid, and how that money is calculated.
- In the pay-per-sale model, sometimes called cost-per-sale model, affiliate marketer websites are paid based on not only how many visitors come to the host’s website from the affiliate’s, but how many purchases they make. This means that in order for a pay-per-sale affiliate website to be particularly effective, they must be able to sell a particular product on the host website. Great for experts at affiliate marketing, but a bad idea for those of us that are terrible at selling things.
- In the pay-per-click model, affiliate marketer websites work towards merely generating web traffic for the host website. Their primary function is just to get visitors to head to their host’s website, which is usually much easier than trying to get them to pay for something. This can be done in any number of ways, from traffic redirects to popup ads to banner advertisements.
- Finally, with the pay-per-lead type of affiliate programming, the affiliate marketer’s website must not only get a visitor to their host’s website, but that visitor must also fill out a survey or some other type of form. This information is used by the host site in a variety of different ways, from marketing campaigns to email blitzes.
While these are the three major types of affiliate marketing programs, there are a few others. In our next article, we’ll go over the remaining types, and give you some advice on how to decide which affiliate marketing program is right for you and your Internet marketing strategy.

Using Affiliate Marketing In Your Internet Home Business
In this series of articles about making money from home in your Internet Home Business, we will be primarily focused on affiliate marketing. One of the newer methods of generating an income online, affiliate marketing is growing in popularity very rapidly. A somewhat complicated method of generating an income on the Internet, affiliate marketing can nonetheless be used effectively to either supplement or even entirely replace your existing income. Below, we’ll go over some of the basics.
So What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing, as its name suggests, is utilizing an affiliate to market. More specifically, this means that one website uses another website to advertise or market for it. In order for an affiliate marketing program to work, there must be three involved parties: the original website, the affiliate, and the consumer.
When the consumer visits the affiliate market’s website, they are either redirected to another website, or presented advertisements from another website. When this occurs, the affiliate receives an income from the website that the advertisement directs traffic to.
This All Sounds Pretty Complicated
Affiliate marketing can be pretty complicated! But the nice thing about being an affiliate marketer is that you need to neither produce original content, provide a service, or even sell anything yourself to make money. All that you have to do is be able to host or pay for a website that is capable of displaying advertising, and potentially redirecting Internet traffic to another website.
In the coming articles, we’ll go over some of the pros and cons of being an affiliate marketer, and what it can mean for your Internet marketing strategy. While affiliate marketing isn’t for everyone, it can be a great way to become involved in e-commerce. And as that is where all of the money on the Internet is right now, that’s where you should be, too.

Click Your Way to Cash in Your Internet Home Business
In our last article on making money with your Internet Home Business, we’re going to tell you about a productive, but somewhat boring, way to make money on the Internet: click working and survey-taking. As an Internet marketing strategy, it may not be the best, but it’s easiest, and you can do it while you watch TV or do just about anything else that leaves your hands free.
Clicking Your Way to a Paycheck
A simple Google search for “clicking to make money” will reveal hundreds of different click-pay websites. Although we cannot vouch for the efficacy of any of them, the volume of people that rely on these for their income signifies that at least some people have a large amount of success with them.
The way that click-pay websites work is pretty simple: if you click on a provided link and look at the webpage for a set period of time, then you will receive a credit. Once you receive enough credits, you will receive a payout.
While these payouts certainly aren’t worth very much money, you can quite easily perform them – so there’s no reason not to make it part of your Internet marketing strategy.
Answering Questions
Another way that you can generate a small amount of money by not doing much is by taking surveys. Just like with click-pay services, we cannot endorse any sites in particular, but a quick Google search should show you as many as you can imagine.
These sites work by having you take surveys on a variety of topics, from shopping to television to science, after which you are provided with credits. Once enough credits are accrued, you can exchange these for money.
While click-pay and survey websites are the easiest ways to make money online, they are certainly not the most well-paying. Just the same, if you’re looking for a quick and dirty way to make some extra money online, then you should take up one, or both, of these practices.

Blogging as Part of Your Internet Home Business
In our previous articles about making money from home using the Internet, we’ve explained how you can provide goods and services and sell them over the Internet. We’ve also explained how you can develop a website to market those goods, and even how to market them socially. Now, we’re going to take a bit of a departure, and let you in on another way to expand your Internet marketing strategy: blogging.
Why Bother With Blogging?
Why should you bother with a blog? Primarily, because it’s an easy way to generate a small amount of revenue. All that you really need to do is regularly update it with interesting content, an image here or there, and allow advertisements to be placed on it. After awhile, you will begin regularly receiving visitors, and as long as just a few of them click on the advertisements presented, then you’ll receive a nice check at the end of the month. Unless you take blogging very seriously, you won’t make enough to pay rent, but it should help to take a dent out of groceries.
What Do I Need to Get Started?
Not a whole lot. This is one of the easier methods of Internet marketing strategy, because all you need is something you are passionate about and a little bit of time. Once you have a topic that you’d like to write about a couple of times each week, jump onto Blogger or WordPress and start blogging! To enable advertisements, all you have to do is check the appropriate box on your settings page, and the websites will do the rest for you.
Blogging is a fun and easy way to generate a little bit of extra income. It also has the advantage of never becoming more work than it is at the beginning, but retaining the possibility of becoming big and making you a ton of money. Even if you only want to update your blog once each week, it’s important that you create one just the same – your PayPal account will thank you for it.
Utilizing eBay To Generate Income in Your Internet Home Business
Earlier in our series about making money from home using the Internet, we told you about how you can use services like eBay to market your products. However, there’s another service that you can use eBay for: selling old products that you’ve found elsewhere. Although this particular method of making money takes a bit of skill, you can generate quite high levels of income very rapidly with patience and diligence.
So How Does Making Money on eBay Work?
The basic idea of this aspect of Internet marketing strategy is that you find an item that has a high value, but is sold at a low price. In essence, this is the basic theory of economics, only you’re going to be playing it on eBay.
Primarily, you’re going to select a couple of niche markets, like comic books from a particular era or fine china from a particular designer, and learn the eBay market well. Once you have a good grasp on how much different items are worth, and you’ve made a list of what they sell for, begin looking around your home town and the Internet for those exact items.
Once you’ve found something, check to see if it’s either on your list or if it is on eBay already. If the sale price of the item is more than 15% lower than what it would be worth on eBay, then go ahead and buy it, and then list it on eBay.
Selling like this on eBay seems like a pretty easy process – and it is. In fact, people have become millionaires on eBay by doing just this. You can even buy items from eBay and then sell them again a few months later! The downside of this method is that it requires something of an investment from you before you can proceed. But it’s like they say: you have to have money to make money!
Social Media and Making Money in Your Internet Home Business
One of the best ways that you can generate attention for your products and begin building a loyal customer base is by effectively utilizing a variety of social media tools. By integrating them into your Internet Home Business strategy, you can help to spread both interest and awareness about what your business does, as well as building brand loyalty.
Starting a Social Media Internet Market Strategy
The first thing that you will need to do is to create an account on a few different social media platforms. Because Facebook is the biggest and has the most reach, it’s best to start there. Once you create a separate account for your business, log into your personal Facebook account, and Like your new business. Then, suggest that all of your friends Like it, too, and make sure to mention that it’s your business.
Once people on your Facebook list start to Like your website, your service, or your product, then all of the people on their list will be exposed to you. Hopefully, at least a few of them will also Like you, and the ball will keep rolling.
Some Strategies for Pushing Social Media Further
Another way that you can use Facebook is by actively utilizing your Facebook account. Create status updates about what your business is doing, advertise new products, deal, or services, and even hold contests on Facebook. The sky and the terms of service are really the limits here. So long as you stay advice and regularly ask for your followers to recommend you to their friends, you will continue to gain more and more exposure.
In this day and age, no true Internet Home Business is complete until they have begun a social media campaign. That’s because people are spending the majority of their time on websites like Facebook. If you want their sales, then that’s where you need to be, too.

Advertising and Your Internet Marketing Strategy
Whether you sell a service or provide a product for your customers and clients, there’s one way that you can always generate more business: advertising. While advertising can be expensive, especially if you’re just starting your at-home Internet business, it’s almost always worth it – provided that you’re advertising correctly.
How Do I Know When to Advertise?
You should begin advertising, in some capacity, almost as soon as you begin your business. Whether you post about your business on Facebook and Twitter, getting the word out about your business should be a key part of your Internet marketing strategy.
Once you’re confident that you are delivering great products and services to your customers and clients, you can begin branching out. A great place is on the Internet itself. A variety of services, like Google Adsense, will show people links to your website for a nominal fee. Many people have had tremendous success following this route, and see huge increases in their web traffic.
What is Good Advertising?
Good advertising is advertising that effectively explains who you are and what services or products you can provide. Great advertising, however, creates a need for that product or service. How you go about creating this need lies largely on your shoulders – what about your product or service makes it unique? What makes you better than everyone else providing a similar product or service? By answering these questions, you’ll be well on your way to having great advertisements, and fulfilling an important part of any Internet marketing strategy.
While advertising can be expensive, it’s usually worth it. However, selling a product or a service isn’t the only way that you can make money on the Internet, and in our future articles, we’ll show you a few other ways to generate an income by using the Internet.
Developing a Website for Your Internet Home Business
If you’re looking to make money from home on the Internet, then one of the things that your Internet marketing strategy will eventually need is a website. Even if you don’t plan to offer your services or sell your products through a website, a little bit of effort on your part can pay off pretty hugely.
Why Do I Need a Website?
You will eventually want to develop a website for several reasons. First and foremost, if you’re trying to establish a brand name for yourself, then a website is the first place that your potential customers will go when they become curious about you. A website lets them know not only who you are, but also that you are serious.
The second major reason why you will eventually want a website is because of extra advertising revenue. While costing you nothing but time to develop, a website that receives a reasonable number of hits can boost your income by a pretty big amount with a small amount of diligence.
How Do I Go About Getting a Website?
There are a few ways that you can get a website for your Internet marketing strategy. The easiest way is to simply go to a free hosting service, like WordPress or Blogger, and sign up for their service. It’s completely free, and their template system makes getting a website going in no time a snap. Plus, it is also easy to add advertisements and social media buttons to them, so it won’t take you long at all.
Alternatively, you can hire a web developer or build the website yourself. Developers can be found on Craigslist, or on a variety of freelancing websites. Although this will cost you more money and time, it will also result in a more professional-looking website.
In our coming articles, we’ll talk about one way that you can generate income just by having a website, and not doing a whole lot more. For now, however, start trying to come up with something that you would like to name a potential website.
Selling Products as an Internet Home Business Strategy
If you have decided that you’re going to take advantage of a skill that you have in making things, then this is the article for you. That’s because here we’re going to focus on some of the basics of selling products as a key part of your Internet Home Business strategy.
Hopefully, by now you have already decided on the type of items that you plan on making to make money from the Internet. In this article, we’re going to outline a few places where you can list your products for sale, as well as providing guidelines for how much money you should charge.
So Where Should I Sell My Products?
There are a number of places where you can sell your products. If, for example, you’re making primarily hand-made, crafty things, then Etsy is a great place to start. They feature an entire setup dedicated towards helping people just like you create electronic Internet stores so that they can sell their goods online. If you plan to make just about anything handmade, then Etsy should definitely be a part of your Internet marketing campaign.
You can also sell your items on places like eBay or Craigslist, which are browsed by millions of people everyday. One of the difficulties that you may encounter when using these services is that people probably aren’t going to be specifically looking for the products that you’re making. This means that you will be relying on people randomly popping into your items in order for you to make sales. However, if you develop a name for yourself, then this will cease to be an issue.
How much you charge for your products is really up to you, although an easy rule of thumb is to estimate how long an item took to make you, and multiply that by how much money you think you’re worth each hour.
In our next few articles, we’ll be going over a variety of ideas that you can implement in your Internet Home Business strategy whether you’re selling a product or a service.
