How to Make Money on the Internet: Taking Consistent Action

Consistency of purpose provides the foundation and structure of developing and maintaining a successful home business. Energy is used most effectively when applied to a specific vision and goal. Your ability to stay focused and consistent spills over into every aspect of your life. Everyday, we make choices, hour by hour, selecting on each occasion the most advantageous option amongst the countless choices life has to offer. On the other hand, deciding on fundamental matters is hard for those who lack a clear vision. Unmade choices have devastating results.

In order to reduce complexity, we try to automate as many decisions as possible. When we drive to work, we usually take the same street. When going out to eat, we often go to the same restaurant. To achieve home business success this reduction of complexity in our choices should also be applied. Most high achievers know that it is the consistency that produces powerful results over time. The more consistent you are the greater the results you will achieve.

When you apply the element of consistency to your marketing, follow ups, social media, project management, networking events, relationship management, financial management, product research and development, environmental and social consciousness, and most importantly: your word, you will absolutely see the results.

I suspect you know this already, but are you doing it?

Scientists agree that the average person needs at least 3 weeks to form a good habit or routine. (Bad habits take a little less time to form but are often harder to break). Take action steps now to create long term and beneficial routines.

First, know what you want to achieve in your business and visualize it.  Create a vision board for yourself by writing your goals down and adding pictures to what you would like to accomplish and post this in your work area. Then, make a list of the top five areas in your business that you want to be more consistent in. Now out of the five select two. Make a routine to ensure these tasks get handled on a regular basis. Add them to your calendar and put the day(s) and time(s) you will do them going forward.

WARNING: you will do this easily in the beginning. Eventually you will become tempted to give yourself permission to skip a day. DO NOT SKIP! When you get the urge to skip, remind yourself the importance of your goals and why you are doing what you are committed to doing.

If something works, you need to continue to do it. Very obvious, but you would be surprised at how many people start to stray away from what is starting to work for them. They get very frustrated and quit right before they get to see their achievements take shape.

Here’s the deal, we will always be lacking consistency in some area(s). The point is not to become consistent in everything, but to find those crucial points where it is paramount in whom you are as a person as well as for your business. Your consistency will absolutely determine your success not only in business but in everything that you want to achieve in life.

It’s A Boy! Congratulations!

Hey Everyone,

If you’ve been on my list for any significant period of time, contacted my office in the past year and a half, or spoken to me on social media (twitter, facebook, etc..) then chances are you’ve had contact with my assistant, Suzanne.

Well, about a month ago Suzanne left on maternity leave and I’m happy to announce that she just gave birth to a healthy baby boy (we’ll call him “Sprinkles” because that’s what her daughter named him while he was in her belly - lol)

Suzanne has pretty much been my right hand for the past year and a half and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. So I just wanted to take a  second to say:

  • CONGRATS on your new baby boy “Sprinkles”
  • Now that the baby is out it’s time to get back to work - hahaha just playin:-)
  • It’s a good thing your baby was born on the 21st because that makes him a Gemini (like me) and that means he’s ULTRA-COOL!!
  • We miss you and look forward to when you can come back

And to all of you who know Suzanne (or just want to be nice), please feel free to leave your comments/congratulations in the comments section below and she’ll be sure to read them!

Devon :-)

Successful Home Business - What Are Your Odds?

Risk in your Home BusinessWhen you think of home businesses, you probably imagine some kind of rag-tag operation. You know, low budget, unknown, no real chance of success. Well, you really couldn’t be more off base. Some of the most successful and well known companies in our modern culture got their start as small, home based businesses. Ford, Hewlett-Packard, Hershey’s, Apple, and Mary Kay cosmetics are just a few of the big names that are nothing more than home businesses that were extremely successful.

So, what are the chances that you can be successful too? Believe it or not, you’re the chance that your home business will be a success is better than you might think. Statistically, about 70% of home based businesses will be successful over a 3 year period. That is compared to 29% with other business ventures. Not bad odds. That’s a 7 in 10 chance that your business is going to make it for at least three years. Wouldn’t it be great if all of the chances you took in your life had those kinds of odds?

It is perfectly acceptable to be apprehensive when contemplating starting up a home business. I am sure that Milton Hershey and Henry Ford had their own sets of doubts before finally deciding to take the plunge and go for it. But if they hadn’t overcome their fears, they would not be the household names that we have come to recognize today. Taking the first step towards running your home business is undoubtedly the most challenging and stressful. However, in order to be successful, you need to have a certain willingness to take chances and make the choices that will lead to your success.

It is important to realize that, especially in today’s job market, you cannot depend on anyone else to ensure your job security. With unemployment pushing ten percent and more and more established businesses going under by the day, working for someone else is no guarantee of security or success. And the only way to ensure that your boss is looking out for your interests is to be your boss. The single most important element that will contribute your home businesses success is your attitude. If you know you will be successful, you are that much more likely to become successful. And looking into the statistics regarding home business success rates and seeing them in black and white can only boost your confidence. Remember, no matter what anyone might say, a successful home business in by no means a fantasy. Successful home businesses are started every day, and if you are willing to put forth the effort, yours could be next.

Inspirational Quotes to Live By

The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting
started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small
manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.” - Mark Twain.
Keeping it simple..and effective!:)

“Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. When you make a mistake, don’t look back at it for long Take the lesson and move forward. Although the past cannot be changed; How to shape the future is still in your hands. ” :)

“Don’t wait for extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions and MAKE THEM GREAT. Weak men wait for opportunities; STRONG MEN MAKE THEM.” - Orison Swett Marden :)

“We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same.”  - Carlos Castenada :)

“It’s ONLY WHEN when we truly know and understand that WE HAVE A LIMITED TIME ON EARTH–and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up–that WE WILL BEGIN TO LIVE EACH DAY TO THE FULLEST , as if it were the only one we had.” - Elisabeth Kubler-Ross :)

“A certain amount of opposition can be of great help to a man- Kites
rise against, not with the wind.” - John Neal

Keep your face to the sunshine, and you cannot see the shadow…:)

“All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with
another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change
you.”– Wayne Dyer

YOU are responsible for YOU! ..don’t blame, don’t make excuses, don’t be too dependent on others for your happiness, take charge of your OWN life, YOU DESERVE THE BEST..:)

Failure has been my best teacher. If what you’re doing is worth
anything, then failing now and again is inevitable. Ultimately, success
is about getting past the setbacks that you encounter. If you let
failure bother you, you’ll never succeed. Don’t fear failure. Learn
from it. - John Peterson

Daily Inspirations Can Come From Anywhere

Daily InspirationThere are some true inspirational people such as Martin Luther King jr,
Mother Teresa, Albert Einstein, Gandhi, and so many more that the list
goes on and on. For every aspect of life you can be sure that there’s an inspirational person to be found.

Do you have anything in common with the people I listed above? Probably more than you think. These people were successes in their own lives, but their outwardly focus was not in business, it was changing people’s lives (which, truth be told, is actually the real reason you’re aiming for such high success as a home business entrepreneur).

The quotes you read from very inspirational people may not necessarily
be “directly” related to your home business. However, that’s not to say
that you cannot learn from them and apply their principles while on your own success journey.

I read quite a bit and I was reading an essay the other day about 50
Cent (gangster-rapper). Granted, his lifestyle isn’t particularly one to
be modeled after. . . but nevertheless, his recipe for success is:

“Now he [50 Cent] thought it was time to get away from the drug world and try hip-hop. He knew nothing about constructing songs, but he told himself he would succeed. ‘Once I focus on something, it’s gotta work for me,’ he says. ‘I won’t turn off from it. I convince myself it’s gonna work and then no one can convince me that it’s not.’”

Even 50 Cent believes in total immersion and ultimate focus, and isn’t
that something you can apply to your own life and business? You may not have THAT much in common with a gangster rapper; but you both have determination and a hunger for success.

You have to create your own path to success, but you can do it riding on the shoulders of giants. Study the teachings of those who have carved their path to success and it will make your journey that much easier.

Sometimes success comes from sheer determination and hard work, and other times it come thanks to connections and luck. But one theme rings familiar in all inspirational people. They’re happy where they are and they never stop growing. It’s a process that keeps developing. Read biographies, interesting stories, or even videos. You can gain inspiration from the most unlikeliest of places.

I once got a business idea from reading a menu. Where will yours come
from?
