Home Business Success Tip: The Elevator Pitch
The elevator pitch is a an overview of a product, idea, service, or even yourself that can be delivered in the time it takes for an elevator ride (hence the name). It’s usually between 100-150 words. What can you say in that length of time? How can you squish together all that you do in just a few seconds?
You sit down and write it out. You practice it in the mirror and you manipulate it in order to make it sound sexy and to inform the other person all that there is about you and your business.
You’re constantly selling yourself and especially in seminars where you have the opportunity of making some awesome connections with people. But if you’re opening line is “I sell sea shells by the sea shore” and not “I market a rare line of crustacean domiciles on the shoreline.” you may have a problem. Fancy it up a bit, but still keep it short.
Work your business into 100 words or so, really sell what you and your business is about. When you give your elevator pitch and the other person is stunned by your professionalism, you can then go into further details.
