Some people hire virtual assistants that act as secretaries for them, freeing them from the hassle of having to schedule meetings or make business phone calls.  Some people hire accountants so that they don’t need to keep their own books.

So What’s So Valuable About Your Time?

If you’re looking into the secrets of outsourcing, there’s a good chance that you run a business or are planning on starting one. Possibly you’re a freelance writer whose time is highly valuable to him – so long as he is writing and not doing anything else. Regardless, you’re probably an expert at something, and each minute that is wasted on a task not directly related to your expertise is a wasted opportunity to be making money.

Think of it this way: how much time did you spend organizing your finances for your business last month?  Let’s say that you spent an hour each week tidying up the books, for a total of four hours over the course of the month.  If you’re a freelance web developer that averages about $1,000 each week, and you work 40 hours each week, then you are effectively making $25 an hour.  Those four hours spent each month handling your finances?  You spent $100 on them.
