On Page SEO Tips For WordPress Bloggers

Achieving internet home business success with WordPress blog can be a bit difficult unless you go for the kill with Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Just for a quick overview, SEO can be of two types, On Page and Off Page. While it is essential to combine both, the main motive of the article will be to concentrate on “On Page SEO” for WordPress bloggers. Here are a few tips that you may find handy for your blog:

Post Title: Optimizing the post title is important. By default, the post title for your WordPress blog will have the following format: Blog Title > Archive > Title (Keyword rich) of your post. Do you know that search engines will put more weight to the keywords which are at the beginning? This means that the default order will not work well. You need to mirror the order and this can be done by using a plug-in called “All in One SEO”.

Post Description: A great title must always follow a great description and it is always suggested that every post that you create must have a separate description that gives an overview of the entire post. Make sure that you do not use the first two or three sentences of your post as post description. It is much better write a new description (generally a maximum of 148 characters). The plug-in mentioned above can help you to achieve this.

Permalinks (URL Structure): URL structure is a heavy weight candidate in SEO. The default URL structure of WordPress is somewhat robotic. It looks like: “http://XYZ.com/?p=47”. The question is, will a reader understand what he or she will find at the page by simply looking at the URL? No! The readers must understand what is there in the post by looking at the URL and this applies to search engines as well! Go to Setting > Permalinks and select Custom Structure. Use the structure /%category%/%postname%/. This makes the URL structure friendlier for both the readers and search engines. You can also name the link so that it interests the reader to click on it.

Semantic Markups: Google prefers XHTML semantics. What this means is, if you organize your blog properly using heading tags ( tags), it becomes easier for Google to rank your pages properly based on the relevant keywords. Give low weight tags to those which are not important. Your post title must always have the highest weight and must get tag. Only one tag is to be used in one page.

Interlinks Within The Blog: Search engines love this. Interlink the pages within your WordPress blog. The best way to do that is to display related posts below every post. This will help search engine bots to find other pages of your blog when they reach any specific page in your blog! This helps the readers as well.
These are the major On Page SEO techniques that can be used by WordPress bloggers to get greater Organic Search visibility leading to increased internet home business success.
