20lbs in 3 months!

You’re probably wondering what on earth I’m talking about with the header line: “20 pounds in 3 months”

Well, I’ll tell you… and in doing so I’ll be explaining a KEY component to achieving your goals (financial or otherwise). You see, like most Americans, I have a little bit of a “weight problem”. But it’s not what you think…

My problem is that I it’s hard for me to GAIN weight. I’ve been skinny my whole life and for years I was just as self-conscious about it as overweight people are about their weight.

Back in 2000/2001 (when I had just graduated from college) I was 6’2″ and an anemic 137lbs (Yes- I was that skinny!!). Between January 2001 and July 2007 I gained about 20 pounds “naturally”. Meaning that people just naturally gain weight as they get older.

I constantly bitched and moaned about hating my weight but I would never go into the gym for more than a month at at time and I would never CONSISTENTLY take my weight gain supplements that I spent a fortune on.

Then, in July of 2007, something happened that caused a lot of pain in my life…yup you guessed it..A GIRL!!

We’ll call her the “Little Miss B$#@H” – lol

Anyway…when we broke up I got REALLY motivated to change my life and reach the goals that I had set for myself several years earlier.
Don’t ask me what a break-up has to do with going to the gym… but hey, I was motivated, so might as well put the motivation to good use!

I hired a personal trainer and hit the gym hard. I followed a workout plan, doubled my caloric intake, and in 3 months I went from 157lbs to 177lbs.

It felt so good to FINALLY feel comfortable walking around in a just a T-Shirt! So, what’s the point of me telling you this?

Simple…

At any point in time between Jan 1st 2001 and July 1st 2007 I could have followed a workout plan, doubled my caloric intake, hired a trainer, and gained 20 pounds of muscle in 3 months. The ONLY thing stopping me was ME

It’s the same in business…

At anytime between 2001 (when I first started) and 2006 (when I started making money) I could have
- gotten a business plan from ONE successful marketer
- put on my blinders
- taken consistent action everyday
- built my list
- etc…

The only thing stopping me was ME!

Instead of reading about gaining weight and buying expensive supplements; I should have been eating more and hitting the gym! Instead of reading about making money and buying home study courses; I should have been focusing on driving traffic to ONE website!

I think you get the point

I hope this little bit of insight into my life has been helpful ;-)

Now its your turn to get super focused!

Hey Devon,

I have to say, it surely was
noticed when I saw you at
the StomperNet event in
Atlanta a few weeks back.

It had been months since
I’d last saw you and if you
remember… I asked you if
you were putting on size.

In good way! :o )

Continue to get your workout on!

I agree Devon. Everyone has to take responsibility for themselves! At the end of the day, it is your future and what you do today and tomorrow makes up for what you can be in a year or 2!!
