Home Business Success Tip: The Elevator Pitch
You go to an Internet Marketing seminar, meet people, shake hands, introduce yourself, and immediately they ask, “So what do you do?” and you say.. “Uhh…I own my own business”. Nice.
The elevator pitch is a an overview of a product, idea, service, or even yourself that can be delivered in the time it takes for an elevator ride (hence the name). It’s usually between 100-150 words. What can you say in that length of time? How can you squish together all that you do in just a few seconds?
You sit down and write it out. You practice it in the mirror and you manipulate it in order to make it sound sexy and to inform the other person all that there is about you and your business.
You’re constantly selling yourself and especially in seminars where you have the opportunity of making some awesome connections with people. But if you’re opening line is “I sell sea shells by the sea shore” and not “I market a rare line of crustacean domiciles on the shoreline.” you may have a problem. Fancy it up a bit, but still keep it short.
Work your business into 100 words or so, really sell what you and your business is about. When you give your elevator pitch and the other person is stunned by your professionalism, you can then go into further details.
Home Business Success Tips: Will THIS Opportunity Work For Me?
One of the questions that I often get from frustrated entrepreneurs is something like: “Will this program work for me” or “Is this opportunity legit”.
What most of the people who ask this question don’t realize is that they are asking the wrong question. The reality is that there are literally thousands of home business opportunities out there today. Opportunities in MLM, Affiliate Marketing, Internet Marketing, Real Estate Investing, Stock Trading, etc…The reality is (and always will be) that there are those who make money in the opportunity and those who don’t.

Home Business Success Tip – Consistent FOCUS
Think about this…
If you place a leaf on the ground on a sunny day, what happens? Absolutely nothing. But, if you place a magnifying glass over that leaf and hold it still, what happens? The sun’s light is focuses through the magnifying glass and a hole is burned in the leaf. “FOCUS” is the difference between having a warm leaf, or having a forest fire

Home Business Success – Dealing with Friends, Family, and Negativity
Ok, see if you can relate to this one.
You’re all excited about the opportunity you’ve just joined. You approach your friends and family FULL of excitement in hopes that they will be supportive, join, and start recruiting others. Instead they: laugh at you, ridicule you, or tell you that you’re stupid “trying these scams”.

Home Business Success Tip: Speed to Implementation
A university did a study that took a very hard look at the factors that made people successful. This particular study took a look at salespeople that made over $250,000 per year in sales. The purpose of the study was to find the commonalities so that they could “extract” the “success traits” that all of these people had in common. Of all of the “success traits” studied, it was found that the most important one was “Speed To Implementation”.
But what is “Speed To Implementation” and how can it positively effect you in your home business endeavors.
Speed to Implementation is defined as: The difference between the time that you hear about or learn something…and the time it takes for you to put it into action. In other words: If you get a great business idea on Monday morning, have you started implementing it by lunch time OR is it going to take you until next month before you start taking action on your new idea.
The study (mentioned earlier) found that the most successful people actually implemented new ideas INSTANTLY. There was no sitting around, debating, and lollygagging…there was only instant, massive action.
Now, before we go any further let me go ahead and address a question that often arises.
“But what if the idea is a bad idea?”
You must understand 2 things regarding this:
First: Ideas are usually never “right” or “wrong” but instead we start implementation and then as we proceed we adjust course to that the idea is “made right”.
Second: It helps if the idea comes from an mentor or some other person who has already been down the path we’re trying to go down (that way we know the idea is solid).
The problem with most home business entrepreneurs (internet and network marketers) is that we get “paralysis or analysis” and end up taking no action whatsoever. When it comes to analyzing your ideas before implementing them, remember this: It doesn’t have to be perfect, it never will be perfect, you just have to get it going.
Remember: “Speed to Implementation” is one of the main traits that all ultra-successful people have in common. Taking massive action is the ONLY way you are going to be able to get from where you are, to where you want to be!

Home Business Tip: Are You Majoring in Minor Things?
Stop.
Breathe.
You’re making things too difficult on yourself and because of that, you’re wasting a lot of time on minor things. You’re majoring in minor things.
A lot of it is your own mentality on dealing with issues such as negativity or stress, and some of it has to do with basic time management. You’ve just spent 2 hours on the phone with someone you really didn’t want to talk to, so why did you do it? Too nice to hang up, huh? Now’s the time to take action. Your business sits on hold while you’re trying to be polite.
You want to send an email to your mentor and ask a quick question. So it takes you 45 minutes constructing it, proofreading, spell checking twice (just to be sure). When your mentor receives that email and replies do you think he/she will take that long sending one back to you? Highly unlikely.
How to stop majoring in minor things:
- Trust yourself
- Start reading about time management such as Getting Things Done
- Invest in an egg timer and give yourself tasks on a timer
- If something negative crosses your path, deal with it and move on. Thinking on it makes it worse and raises your blood pressure.
- When working on your home business.. WORK ON YOUR HOME BUSINESS. Don’t mix it up with personal stuff (like paying the bills).
- Organize yourself at the beginning of the day. Set out your to-do list and actually follow it.
