10 Time Management Tips For Your Home Business

10 Time Management Tips for Home BusinessTime Management: This is an interesting term that means managing the best use of your time. As a home business entrepreneur, time is extremely precious. You may have a full-time job and have a home-based business so time is not on your side. You have to squeeze in a lot of work in a few short hours a day. So you best make good use of that time. And implementing time management into your life will do just that.

Here are some tips to get you started:
(Click on the Read More button to continue reading article)

- Try waking up earlier than usual, which means you’ll have to get to sleep earlier than usual. But a clear mind after plenty of sleep is invaluable. However, if you really do not work best in the early morning.. then by all means sleep in. This is about you being effective, not sleepy and incoherent.

- Always have your to-do list with you. You can have it on a piece of paper or you can have it as a web application such as: Remember the Milk or Ta-Da List. They enable you to prioritize and categorize what you need to do.

- Stay organized. Time management does not happen when it takes you 30 minutes to find a piece of paper you jotted down an idea on. Organization does not only count for your home, but also on the computer. If you have 50 icons on your desktop, clean them up by either removing them or organizing them into folders.

- It’s OK to say “NO”. You don’t have to answer every phone call or talk to someone who only wants to talk about their business (and not reciprocate!). Say NO. It’s ok. This is about YOU and YOUR business. YOU make your home business success. So you do what you feel will better promote your business, and if you feel it’s a waste of time; it probably is.

- Take care of dreaded tasks first. Once you complete a task you didn’t want to do, the rest of your time will go by easier. But don’t struggle on it for too long. If it’s that big of a job, then break it down into smaller parts.

- Treat yourself. That’s time management? It is if you don’t want to lose your sanity. Giving yourself 30 minutes (random number) to go to the coffee shop and drink slowly while reading a newspaper is best time served for you and your home business. It allows you to de-stress and not be in a frantic state of mind.

- Delegate and outsource. I can’t say this one enough. It’s ok to hand over tasks to someone else. It’s like having an employee, and isn’t that a successful feeling?

- Stuck waiting somewhere? Try to make it a habit to bring something to work on when you go somewhere. You could think of keyword phrases, write an article, or work on your latest business venture.

- Keep your ideas in one place. You may see an interesting website and have the world’s greatest idea. Great! Jot that down and keep it in one place, bookmark the website using a social bookmarking site (such as delicious) and categorize them. When you do have some free time, access that database of ideas and use them.

- Take your time (how counterproductive huh?). Don’t rush through each task because then you’re not giving it your complete attention, and that may sacrifice on quality.

I had to learn time management myself, which is how I came to writing this blog post. I have implemented all these points into my life. I take consistent action in what I do in order to succeed. Isn’t it time for you to do the same?
